I don’t normally do posts like this, but this guy is really pulling on my heartstrings. He’s scheduled to die Saturday, 2/8. He needs a rescue NOW. Currently located in Southgate, Michigan, but I’m sure transport could be arranged to pretty much anywhere for a reputable rescue.
Please reblog this guy. It could save his life.
If you’d like to help please spread the word or donate anything you can. Captain is in need of special medicated baths to treat the mange he had since he he was dropped at the shelter. He’ll also need some very special classes to curb his fear and trust issues so he no longer reacts in a guarding or threatening way if he’s nervous. The rescue has so many dogs, I’d like to help ease their financial burden if possible. Anything raised that exceeds what he needs will go directly to them. Thank you! 🐾💖

We’ve raised a bit more thanks to all hour help! We still have a long way to go, though.
You all are amazing! So far $250 has been raised for Captain! This means he gets his medicated baths, post bath shampoo, and eye meds! $200 more gets him 3 of his classes!! You all are such wonderful people.
Thank you all again. We are getting close to the goal. Please share if you can!
Hey tumblr… while we’re all jumping on social justice causes, how about we take time time to address another major concern: the captive wildlife crisis.
You realize that the exotic pet trade is a major reason why there are only several thousand tigers left in the wild, yes? You realize that supporting the exotic wildlife trade is basically the same as supporting poaching, yes?
No one… NO ONE should keep an exotic animal as a pet. I don’t care how cuddly or cool they seem. They have been taken from their natural habitat, bred, and abused for profit and amusement. They are not domesticated like dogs and house cats and are therefore unreliable. Their native populations are dwindling to nothing in a shockingly short time (in the last hundred years).
The captive wildlife crisis is perpetuating the extinction of these species.
More often than not, captive wildlife live in squalor and are fed diets that allow their health to deteriorate. They are inbred. They are not well cared for. I don’t care how noble your intentions. They develop teeth, intestinal, eye, and leg issues. Their life span is cut in half.
And it’s posts like this that hype and glamorize something that is causing severe and permanent harm to the animals that you claim to love so much.
For those who don’t understand the gravity of the situation, I highly suggest you watch The Elephant in the Living Room. Also, check out this story about Zanesville, OH that details what happens when things go wrong with owning exotic animals.
Y’all jumped on the bandwagon to support orcas after Blackfish… it’s time to see the bigger picture.
